Catching
up on things I’ve learned
By Bill Kirby Jr.
Columnist
(Excerpt from the original column)
Pardon me, if I do some spring cleaning and catching up on more of what
I have learned.
Here we go.
I’ve learned:
... that City Manager Dale Iman has proposed hiring 52 new police officers
to combat growing crime, and the city manager could not be more right.
... that some City Council members are on the fence when it comes to hiring
52 new police officers, and they could not be more wrong in the wake of
growing crime.
... that the city manager should — except for police, fire and emergency
personnel — suspend all annual pay raises for city employees during
these economic crises.
